Mental Health is a Growing Issue Among Canadians
Create Your Own Personal Fundraising Page Today!
Mental illness remains one of the last social taboos of our time. Despite its impact on society, we do not talk about it, understand it, or support it.
But there is a growing desire among Canadians to do something about it – because we are increasingly recognizing that mental illness can affect any of us at any time.
This year, more than 7 million Canadians – including more than 1.2 million children and youth – will be affected by a mental illness. But only one-third of those who have a mental illness in Canada report getting help and as few as 1 in 4 children and youth will receive treatment.
It has an overwhelming economic cost of over $51 billion per year, with some 1.6 million adult Canadians living with mental health problems being undiagnosed.
These facts speak volumes – we need change – and – you can make it happen by creating a Personal Fundraising Page.
Tell your story, explain why this issue is important to you and help raise awareness and funds in support of Partners for Mental Health and their efforts to improve child and youth mental health and build mentally healthy workplaces.
Specific ideas or ways you can help include:
- Make a memorable occasion – birthday, anniversary, graduation, wedding, or retirement – extra special by asking for donations in lieu of gifts.
- Honour your mentor, teacher or loved one by sharing their story on your page.
- In support of mental health, consider holding:
- A community walk or bike ride,
- a bake sale,
- a dance or games night,
- a golf tournament or marathon, or
- a BBQ or dinner party.
By creating a Personal Fundraising Page and gathering donations online, you will be supporting a cause with life-changing impact for many Canadians across the country.
